Champagne Region with Richard Bampfield MW

WEDNESDAY, JULY 11, 2012

Smarter International’s Champagne Guy Charlemagne Réserve Brut (Grand Cru) is chosen by The Don Restaurant, in the City of London, to complement a Champagne Dinner event that was hosted by Richard Bampfield MW. The specially designed Champagne menu featured several top Champagnes with the Réserve Brut selected as a perfect match for the Dover Sole Soufflé.

Around 50 invited guests were treated to a culinary delight with great Champagnes, including the Réserve Brut (Grand Cru) - a Gold Medal winner in TASTED Magazine’s recent blind tasting by two "Best Sommeliers of the World".

The Réserve Brut cuvee is from the Le Mesnil sur Oger and Oger Cote des Blancs terroir, both with limestone soils. This brut champagne is made solely with Chardonnay from 100% Grand Crus. A champagne where lightness and finesse play the lead role, it is made from a reserve wine blend and light dosage at around 8 grams per litre; giving the Champagne both longevity and subtle aromas. Vinified in thermo regulated stainless steel and matured between two and three years in underground cellars, the Réserve Brut is a harmonious wine; wholesome, full-bodied and with very mineral aromas. It possesses elegance and vivacity which allow for the best food pairings.
